What is Easter and why is it celebrated?

Easter is a holiday celebrated in the Christian faith that marks the end of the forty day period known as Lent, and it is also known as Resurrection Sunday or Pascha. Easter celebrates the resurrection of Christ and the date on which it is celebrated differs slightly each year as it is determined using the lunar cycle. According to the History Channel, ” it is one of several moveable feasts in the liturgical year,” and as such, Easter falls between March 22 and April 25 which is meant to be “the first Sunday after the first full moon following the spring equinox.”

Based on these requirements, it has been calculated that Easter will fall on April 20 this year.
